Seller FAQs

Pass the Plate is the only official platform for buying and selling secondhand ceramics from Heath. This is where our community lives, which means you’ll keep your beloved dinnerware in the family, get the best value for each item, and find buyers quickly. Plus, if you sign up with the same email you use on Heath’s main site, you can list pieces straight from your order history.

Simply click “Sell Your Item” in the upper right-hand corner, create an account (use the same email you use on our main site so you can see your order history), and follow the steps. Once you’ve built your listing, click “Submit” and we’ll review it within 24 hours. After it’s approved, you’re ready to go. If there are any issues with your listing, we’ll reach out.

The Treet Team reviews every item before it goes live. They’re verifying several things about your post:

  • Your pictures are accurate and high quality

  • Any quirks are accurately described

  • The condition you selected accurately reflects your image

  • The product is an authentic piece

When you make a sale, you’ll receive an email that includes a prepaid shipping label. You must ship within seven days of sale, or the order will be canceled. Buyers are responsible for shipping fees.

As a Seller on Heath Vintage & Resale, you have

two

choices for receiving your funds: cash or credit back to Heath Ceramics.

If you choose store credit, there is

no fee

! In fact, Heath Ceramics will give you a bonus 20% in store credit. (i.e. Selling an item for $100.00 gives you $120.00 credit back to

If you choose cash, the fee is

20%

. (i.e. Selling an item for $100.00 gives you $80.00 cash.) This fee is paid directly to Treet.

Once your item is delivered and verified (manually by the buyer or auto-verified after 72 hours — whichever is first), you’ll receive an email asking how you’d like to redeem your funds: cash or credit. You can make your preferred selection by logging into your account and going to ‘Your Listings’.

To redeem your funds as credit, you’ll receive an email immediately upon verification with your gift card for use on

If your buyer submits a claim, you’ll be notified immediately and we’ll review it in accordance with our Treet Protection policy. Your funds will be on hold until a decision has been reached. If the claim is accepted, we provide the buyer with a prepaid shipping label to print and ship within 72 hours. If the claim is rejected, you’ll immediately receive your funds.

As long as the item is initially scanned in by the post office, you’ll be paid in full if it were to get lost or stolen anywhere on its journey.

Ceramics from Heath are durable, but you’ll still want to take a few precautions before putting them in the mail: 1. Try to find a box that’s roughly the same size as what you’re shipping (ideally, leaving at least two inches of space). If possible, double up on boxing for extra protection, and fill the space between boxes with additional packing material to prevent movement. 2. Be generous with your packing materials to keep pieces separate from each other and from the outer edges of the box. Before taping up your package, give it a gentle shake—if you feel or hear movement, consider repacking. 3. Once it’s packed, remember to write “Fragile” clearly on the box before shipment. Check out this video for more packing tips.

Yes! All credit issued on Treet can be used in any in-person Heath store.

In the early-to-mid 1900s, lead was a common ingredient in pottery glazes due to its low melting temperature, which helps glazes come together during the firing process. Cadmium was used in certain glazes to achieve a more vibrant hue. Heath has always adhered to all applicable safety standards for production, and once the FDA guidance on food product safety was introduced in the 1970s, began testing glazes against those safety standards to ensure they complied. At this point, many glazes were either reformulated or archived from production. With a deep history of over 75 years of production, some early Heath glazes contain lead and cadmium. Items produced prior to 2008 are considered ‘vintage’ and include the following California Prop 65 warning label: ⚠️ WARNING: This product can expose you to heavy metals including lead and cadmium, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov. Items produced after 2008 do not require a Prop 65 warning.
